Get picked up from your hotel at 06h30. Proceeds to Nanyuki Town which takes like 3-4 hours. There after we proceed to the Sirimon Gate, this normally takes not more than 1 hour. On arrival at the gate, have lunch and formalize the entry process and payments of the fees as required by the Park authorities. After clearance, the walk starts from the gate as you climb to the camp. It normally takes 2-3 hours to get to Old Moses Camp, located at an elevation of 3300m above sea level. Dinner and overnight stay in the camp.
Wake-up call at 06h30, take breakfast and ascend the Sirimon Track to Likii North Valley. In this beautiful little valley below the subsidiary peaks of Teleki and Sendeyo, two ancient parasitic vents of the main peaks. {3990m}. Climb out of the North Valley and into the Mackinders Valley one of the broadest valleys on the Mountain, with many giant groundsels with good views of the main peaks and a brief stopover for picnic lunch along the valley on top of the cliff. After lunch, hike for about 3 hours to ascend to Shipton Camp just below the main peak of Batian and Nelion. On arrival, you will find your cup of hot coffee or tea ready, prepared by the crew that goes ahead to make sure the services are provided on time. After refreshments, you can takehave a short walk to acclimatize before descending to the Camp as you wait for the dinner to be served. Dinner and overnight atShipton Camp, which is 4200m above the sea level. The weather at this camp sometimes may go below 10 degrees.
Wake-up call at 07h30, have your breakfast and then pack, leave at 0900am and ascend uphill to lower Simba col which is about 4610m. This will be the first stopover. You will have an opportunity to take photos and refreshments and relax for about 15 minutes. After, proceed on a gradual trail as you gain altitude and terrain more uphill with loose gravels which makes the day unique. You will also be able to see the beautiful Shipton valley as well as Batian and Nelion before you join upper Simba tarn. This will be our second break and at this point you will be able to see the other overlooking side of Minto Proceed on to the Austrian Camp on time for lunch having done half circuit of the summit clockwise. The hike takes 3-4 hours, bringing you to the Australian Hut. The rest of the afternoon spent in the Hut, after lunch you can visit the caves beore returning to the hut as you await hitting the summit the following morning. Dinner and overnight in Austrian Hut.
Wake-up call at 04:30am. Have a cup of Coffee or tea biscuits will also be served before starting the Alpine ascent to the highest peak Pt. Lenana {4985m} m (17,058ft) starts at 05:00hrs, taking 1 hr to reach Pt. Lenana 4895m (the hikers summit) in time to watch the sunrise. This is the most challenging bit of the Mount Kenya trekking and will require a strong mind and will as well as a spirit of adventure to reach to the summit. On a clear day you can see the snowcapped summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the South of Mt. Elgon to the West and the Indian Ocean to the East. Get to the summit at around 0630hrs before the sun rise, take photos, before descending leisurely to Mintos hut, 2-3hrs, for hot breakfast. There after descend further down for about 2-3 hours to Road head for hot picnic lunch. At this point your body will be gaining strength as you are now going down from high altitude to normal. In the about 2 hours, arrive in Chogoria Bandas, where you will check in and have breathtaking hot shower to ease your tiredness. Take your meals at the Banda as you overlook all the Mount Kenya peaks. Dinner and overnight stay at the Bandas.
Calmer day, breakfast will be served as early as 06h45. After breakfast, you walk about 10 kms down through the forest to meet our driver who will drive you down the rest of the track and on to Chogoria Town where we normally part ways with the other crew. Head back to Nairobi and have a hot lunch on the way, arriving late afternoon.
